As with many forms of bodywork, massage styles, treatment techniques etc., they all started with a concept, an idea, a methodology of application - combined with the experiences of the practitioner(s). Kate has often been described as a bio-psychio-psomatic empath. She has the ability to "see" what is happening within the body and then work on it in a clear manner. As one client said "It's like you asked my body what was up, and it told you. Then you actually LISTENED!"
Crysalis is a Gentle deep tissue method of work in which the body does not experience the usual experience of pain assocated with deep work. The tissues are given sufficient time to respond to the directional pressure to allow the work to go deep but for the pain to be mitigated to nearly none. This doesn't mean it's not sometimes uncomfortable - but the intense pain response is not present.
We believe that if the body experiences extreme pain, that is where the session actually stops in the brain. This is where our moto of "It does not have to hurt to heal" gained it's origin. It's a matter of retraining the brain away from the "no pain, no gain" teachings as we believe that they do not always hold true.
Remember discomfort is different than pain.
Crysalis Touch is a method of healing which uses manual therapeutic touch, energy work, guided breathing as well as other modalities to arrive at the end goal.
After decades as a licensed massage practitioner and over 4 decades as a healing arts worker, I can often see areas of imbalance when a client walks in. Imbalances may be in the muscles, Chi, bone structure balance etc. I can sense your energy levels dues to pain, discomfort or simple fatigue. With my continuing education and experiencein many areas in how the body and mind work; I have learned many things about the interactions between the body and the mind.
So it not WooWoo, it being knowledgable, observant, caring and using my empathic skills fully. I have been doing this for so many years, sometimes I continue to surprise myself! And every client - Every Session - Every class I take or teach, continues to expand what I bring to the next client, the next class.
Kates clients and patients have often asked "how did you know to go THERE?". The best I can say to someone who has not discovered how to 'hear' the body of another, is that
"I Listen with my Hands, Eyes and Heart" working in harmony" and guided by your body. Your body has a rhythm - a push/pull , it's pulse. Your breathing shifts and changes as your sympathetic systems respond to the work being done.
It's all a process of listening and response.
I can often 'see' what I term body force lines(R) or areas of imbalance. Sounds like 'woowoo' I know, (does some days to me too) but it's a matter of being sensative to the variables of the body. Being able to sense the changes in fuild dynamics and energy flo (chi) and having the experience to know how to "unwind" the body.
This is one of the reasons why it is so vital that when I ask about surgeries, that I get full information. As surgical interruption in the body leaves "tracks" or "blocks" which force the body to change how it flows. It also leaves scar tissue which the system either learns to work with in harmony - or just work with. Often it's the imbalances of old scar tissues and adhesions, changes in our fluid pathways, which shift how our bodies self attenuate or tune.
The Essence of Crysalis is to facilitate the emergence of wellness. Be it physical, emotional or other. You guide and direct your own internal voice of healing. We are just your facilitator and occasionally your guide.
